Helios and Rhodes

Rhodo, daughter of Poseidon , was the wife of Helios, god of the sun. Rhodo was the protector of the island of Rhodes, a gift from her husband. That is why the island is always bathed in sunshine. But Rhodes was not always a paradise: at first it was flooded, a veritable swamp, but Helios made all the water disappear with his rays and living beings sprang from the dry earth.

In this idyllic home, Helios and Rodo had a daughter, Electriona, who died as a child, and seven sons, the Heliades, all of whom were quite clever. Apparently, they were the ones who divided the day into hours, among many other inventions.

Happy couple floating in their paradise, which is still in the process of creation. Helios is quite tanned, by the way. He is holding Rodo, who looks at him lovingly.
